Penda Jonas Hashoongo (born 28 November 1990) is a Namibian basketball player, who currently plays for the Polytechnic Blues in the Khomas Basketball Association. He has also played for Namibia on a national level with the Under-20 team. Career Penda started playing basketball in 2003, at the age of 12, when he joined his High School team the Winhoek International School Knights. In his four year tenure with the Knights, he averaged over 14 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals, figures that can not be ascertained due to the high school games' poor record keeping. In 2008, shortly after finishing high school, Penda was selected to join the Namibian Under-20 basketball team that would represent the country at the Zone VI Under 20 Youth Games that were held in Potchefstroom, South Africa later that year . On the 4th December 2008, Penda made his debut for Namibia in a win over neighbours Botswana during the youth games. In February 2009, a few months after his National Team debut, Penda joined the Civis Suns. Penda received limited minutes at Civics which resulted in him recording less than 2 points a game in ten matches played . In February 2010, Penda joined the Polytechnic Blues and was voted as team captain in the same month.
