Peadar Bracken

Peadar Bracken (23 January 1887 - January 19, 1961) was an Irish freedom fighter during Ireland's War of Independence.
Early life
Peadar Bracken was born Peter Francis Bracken on January 23, 1887 in Sragh, Tullamore, , Ireland. He was the second son of Joseph and Anne Bracken.
Career
* 1914: Elected Captain by the men of the Tullamore Company Irish Volunteers
* 1915: P.H. Pearse appoints Bracken Commandant of the Athlone Brigade area
* 1916: Bracken fires first shots on March 20, in his hometown of Tullamore, County Offaly
* 1916: Bracken commands the critical GPO garrison outpost at O'Connell Bridge, Dublin during the Easter Rising
* 1920: Irish Republican Army headquarters appoints Bracken first Commandant of No.1 and No.2 Offaly Irish Republican Army Brigades
