Paul Vanezis

Paul Vanezis, born in November 1965, is a Staff Director at BBC Birmingham.
Production History
After training at Newport Film School 1987-89, he joined BBC Pebble Mill in Birmingham. He soon became an editor, working on programmes such as 'Chalkface' and 'Specials', before getting his first directing break in 1995 on the Clothes Show. He has directed (amongst many others) 'Tracks', 'The Terrace', 'Gardening Neighbours' and 'Casualty Saved My Life'. Most recent work includes the 50th anniversary special of The Sky At Night and was last directing for Countryfile.
He had also been producer of various features on BBC Worldwide's sell through video range, and after producing a special edition of the Doctor Who story 'The Five Doctors' he was asked to produce the soon to be best-selling video release 'Bottom Fluff' (a collection of outtakes from the comedy Bottom). When the DVD releases began, he maintained his involvement, producing various documentaries:
Documentaries
*I Claudius: A Television Epic, covering the production of the hit BBC costume drama I, Claudius and included on its BBC DVD release.
*Magnox - The Secrets Of Edge Of Darkness, covering the production of the epic 1986 BBC drama Edge of Darkness and included on its BBC DVD release.
*A New Body At Last, a feature covering the handover from Tom Baker to Peter Davison in the lead role of Doctor Who, included on the BBC DVD release of 'New Beginnings', a box set comprising the adventures The Keeper of Traken, Logopolis and Castrovalva.
*Global Conspiracy, a spoof documentary written by Mark Gatiss, featuring various cast members from the Doctor Who serial The Green Death, included on the BBC DVD release of that serial.
* Resurrection of the Daleks: On Location, a short retrospective feature covering the making of the Doctor Who serial Resurrection of the Daleks, included on the BBC DVD release of that serial, which included the last screen interview with John Nathan-Turner before his death in May 2002.
He was a founding member of the Doctor Who Restoration Team.
