Also a director, actor, and composer, Sanderson studied at Sydney's Ensemble Theatre and the New South Wales Conservatory of Music. He has directed and/or acted in theatre and television in Australia, Japan, Britain, and the United States. Returning to New York for a theatrical production, Sanderson also appeared on two CBS Network <nowiki/>series. He has since authored a book on cancer and written related articles on The Huffington Post and in The Medical Journal of Australias MJA InSight
