Bonnie Zindel

Bonnie Zindel is a licensed psychotherapist and psychoanalyst in private practice in Manhattan. She specializes in individuals, couples, and groups. She is on the graduate faculty of The National Institute for the Psychotherapies where she is also a supervisor and training analyst. She is a published novelist and playwright, and founding editor of Psychoanalytic Perspectives.

Psychotherapy
Bonnie received an Award for Excellence from the National Institute for the Psychotherapies where she is on the faculty. She specializes in Relationship Issues, Anxiety, Depression, Creativity, Panic Attacks, Adolescence, Divorce, Grief, and Trauma.
She is Creative Literary Editor of the National Institute for Psychotherapies Journal, Psychoanalytic Perspectives. published by Routledge where she is Creative Literary Editor.
She has presented papers at International Conferences, including Simone de Beauvoir, A One-Woman Play at the The International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy Conference 2011 in Madrid, Spain. The play is the dramatization of the revolutionary feminist’s mind in an imagined relational psychoanalysis while writing her seminal creative work, The Second Sex. Zindel also presented a paper titled The Heroes Journey in Psychoanalysis at the IARPP Conference 2007 in Athens, Greece.
She appeared in The Wall Street Journal in an article titled, "When The Shrink's Away," about New York Therapists leaving town in August for summer vacation.
Workshops
She has run writing groups and conducted creativity workshops throughout the United States and abroad. The New York Times Style section profiled one of her writing groups and wrote, "The six psychotherapists who meet on Friday mornings on the West Side of Manhattan in an office with a couch - of course - a box of tissues and a bouquet of peonies and red tulips, make up what may be the most nurturing and deeply connected creative writing group to arrive on the literary scene."
She runs a dreaming analysis workshop, based on the work of Montague Ullman, where the group helps the dreamer deepen the experience of the dream within a safe and open environment. She also teaches a Contemporary Dream class at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies.

Her novels A Star For the Latecomer by Bonnie Zindel and Paul Zindel, and Hollywood Dream Machine by Bonnie Zindel and Adriana Earthlight, Student Shrink by Bonnie Zindel have been published by HarperCollins, Viking, Bantam, and by The Bodley Head in London. Her plays, I Am A Zoo was performed at The Jewish Repertory Theatre in New York City, and The Latecomer was performed at The Actors Studio in Los Angeles. She co-wrote with Paul Zindel a one-act play called Lemons in the Morning that was part of an evening of theatre called Twenty-Four Hours at the Back Alley Theatre in Los Angeles. She wrote a one-woman play called My Simone: A One-Woman Play on Simone de Beauvoir that was performed at The International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy Conference in Madrid, Spain in 2011.
Education
Zindel holds a clinical social work degree from Columbia University. She is certified as a psychoanalyst by the National Institute of Psychotherapies.
Personal life
Bonnie Zindel was married to Pulitzer Prize-Winning Playwright and author Paul Zindel from 1973 to 1998. They had two children; novelist and actor Lizabeth Zindel, and son David, a filmmaker.
