Paul Barratt

Paul Barratt (born 15 September 1987) is an English footballer who plays as a left back/midfielder for Southport FC after being tracked and signed in November 07 from Worcester City after some impressive performances. He played for Liverpool from 2004 to 2007, having previously been attached to Manchester City.

Manchester United had expressed an interest in signing him at this stage, but baulked at the compensation requested by their rivals, Liverpool eventually paid £30,000 for his services.

He played in the 2006 FA Youth Cup final, where Liverpool defeated his former club Manchester City 3-2 over 2 legs.

In March 2007 he played a reserve team fixture for Blackpool whilst trying to negotiate himself a move away from Anfield He had further trials in April/May 2007 with Tranmere Rovers, Charleroi and Falkirk. He was released by Liverpool in May 2007, having spent the previous season as the only third year at the club's academy.

He subsequently joined Worcester City, impressing fans, even achieving Worcester's player of the month. He also impressed Peter Davenport however, and the Southport manager quickly snapped him up.
