Patton Limited is a company providing specialised products and engineered solutions in refrigeration and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) technologies. Head-quartered in Auckland and operating out of 30 offices located across New Zealand, Australia, Thailand and India, it has more than 200 staff and a $73 million global turnover. The company is led by its current CEO Sameer Handa, who is based in Auckland. Born and raised in India, Handa shifted to New Zealand early during his career and rose up to be the chief executive at Patton within four years of association. History George Patton founded 'GE Patton Limited' in 1923 at Christchurch. Within a decade of operations, it had begun to produce a range of domestic refrigerators and ice cream cabinets for the local market. Subsequently, chest freezers, absorption refrigerators and frozen food cabinets were added to the product portfolio. Sometime in the 70s, the business changed its name to 'Patton Refrigeration' with the head office at Auckland. During the 80s, the focus shifted towards commercial refrigerators and a manufacturing and distribution facility was started at Sydney, Australia. Early in to the new millennium, 9 branches had opened up in New Zealand. A Melbourne branch followed in 2004. 2006 saw the establishment of a joint venture with 'Metjak' to expand the business in West Australia. The business expanded to Thailand in 2007 in the name of 'Patton Aero', which was later certified as ISO:9001. In the same year, a sales office was opened at New Delhi, India. An outlet was also launched in Central Queensland in Australia. In 2008, Patton acquired 'Mellcott Refrigeration' at Victoria, Australia. With 'Patton Brisbane' being set up, the group had a total of 7 outlets in Australia. During the same year, the company name was also changed to 'Patton Limited' to reflect inclusion of HVAC in addition to industrial refrigeration services. Products Patton has a range of Unit Coolers from 200 to 60000 Watts. Its series of coolers are distinguished and identified by their alphabetical codes. Its Air Cooled Condenser products range from 3600 to 1032600 Watts (@15 KTD). Combining high optimized coils and low energy fans, these condensers are built using heat transfer technology. The Condensing Units of Patton are customizable and range from fractional (Embraco) to 60 HP in power and hermetic and scroll to digital scroll and semi-hermetic in design. Recent events In February 2014, Patton Ltd. was appointed as second distributor to 'Danfoss', an HVAC manufacturer based in New Zealand. In December 2014, Patton announced its distributorship of 'ActronAir', a commercial and domestic air conditioning solutions provider. During early 2015, Patton Limited was acquired by 'Beijer Ref AB' (a Swedish refrigeration wholesaler group) along with 'Realcold', another established player in the Australian market. The process of re-branding is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. In August 2015, Patton announced its appointment as exclusive distributor for 'SCM Frigo Refrigeration Systems' in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific region. Awards and accomplishments Patton Group emerged as one of the finalists in July 2014’s 'AmCham - DHL Express Success & Innovation Awards' held in New Zealand. In November 2014, Patton won 'Business Excellence in Export to India Award' at the annual Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards. Patton New Zealand won the 'Best Large Business Award' and 'Supreme Business Award' at Indian Business Awards 2015.
