Patrick L. Anderson

Patrick L. Anderson founded the consulting firm of Anderson Economic Group LLC in 1996, and serves as a principal and CEO of the company. The firm is one of the leading business economics consulting firms in the United States, with offices in East Lansing, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; and Dallas Texas.

Mr. Anderson was the recipient of the 2004 Edmund Mennis award given by the National Association of Business Economists for the best paper contributed to Business Economics. In 2006 he was honored by the Michigan Chamber of Commerce with their Leadership Michigan distinguished alumni award.

Publications
Mr. Anderson has written over 100 published works on business economics and public policy topics. His book Business Economics and Finance was published by CRC Press in July 2004. He also authored the chapter on business valuation in the book Litigation Economics published by Elsevier in 2005. He is the executive editor of The State Economic Handbook published by Palgrave Macmillan in fall 2007. He has also written articles for The Wall Street Journal, The Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press, American Outlook, Crain's Detroit Business; and monographs published by the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, The Economic Enterprise Foundation of Detroit, the Ethan Allen Institute in Vermont, and the Heartland Institute of Chicago.

Mr. Anderson also authored the 1992 Term Limit Amendment to the Michigan Constitution, adopted by 58% of the voters in that year, and the 2006 Single Business Tax repeal law, which was initiated by 370,000 voter signatures and passed by both houses of the Michigan legislature.

Background
Prior to founding Anderson Economic Group, Mr. Anderson served as the chief of staff of the Michigan Department of State, where he supervised over 182 offices, 2,100 employees and annual tax collections of over $1.4 billion. He also served as a deputy director of the Michigan Department of Management and Budget, where he was involved in the landmark 1994 "Proposal A" school finance reform constitutional amendment.

Prior to his involvement in State Government, Mr. Anderson was an assistant vice president of Alexander Hamilton Life Insurance, an economist for Manufacturers National Bank of Detroit, and a graduate fellow with the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington DC.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he earned a masters degree in public policy and a bachelors degree in Political Science. He has been a member of the National Association for Business Economics since 1983, and is also a member of the National Association of Forensic Economists.

World Trade Center Remembrance
Mr. Anderson was one of the attendees at the National Association of Business Economics convention at the Marriott World Trade Center in September 2001. He narrowly escaped death when the buildings collapsed on the morning of September 11. He later dedicated his book Business Economics & Finance to the memory of three of the NYFD firefighters that perished in the lobby of the Marriott World Trade Center after assisting him and many others in escaping. He founded the Michigan Remembers 9-11 fund in 2006.
