Parker Square

The Parker Square is the unofficial name for the 3×3 semi-magic square created by the Australian mathematician Matt Parker.
Background
Parker was inspired by the 7×7 magic square of cube numbers created by Sébastien Miquel and attempted to create a square with square numbers to win a €1,000 reward.
* "Adding to the same value along all rows, columns, and diagonals."
Significance
Parker has expressed his desire for his square to be the mascot for "giving things a go".<ref name=":0" /> He claims that despite the fact that it is agreed that the feat is not achievable with modern computing power and number theory, he tried to create a square anyway.<ref name=":0" />
The Parker Square website describes the square as "a mascot for people who give it a go but ultimately fall short."<ref name=":1" />
