Pantula Surya Venkata Kameshwara Rao was a great poet in telugu. He was popularly known as Bala Kavi as he became a poet at the early age of 12. Early Life Pantula Surya Venkata Kameshwara Rao was born in a traditional Telugu Brahmin family to Sri Pantula Venkata Jogiah and Smt. Gunnamamba in Kuddigam,Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh state. He joined sanskritschool and learnt sanskritliterature. Literacy Career His poetic ventures are Andhra Shivaananda Lahari(the telugu version of sanskrit Shivanandalahari by Adi Shankaracharya, Andhra Ruthu Samhaaram(the telugu version of sanskrit Ritusamhara by Kalidasa), Bala Ramayanam(a poetic venture on the childhood of Lord Rama), Aja Vilaapam (the telugu version of Sanskrit Aja vilapam by Kalidasa), Surya Shathakam(a poetic venture of 100 poems on Sun God). Unfortunately, he demised at the early age of 25, else we would have blessed with many more poetic works from him. His younger brother Pantula surya prakasha rao has followed his path and wrote many shatakams (collections of 100 poems) in Telugu as Maruthi Shathakam (100 poems on Lord Hanuman), Soorya Shathakam, Satya Sai Baba Shathakam etc. among which some books are already printed and some remained unprinted. In additinal to this, he is trying to print the works of Pantula Surya Venkata Kameshwara Rao and offer them to the present and future generations. Philosophy He never sold his poetic works to anybody.. His philosophy is that knowledge is divine and it shouldn't be sold.If it is sold, then it becomes a sin.
