ADVOCACIES
Palafox Associates is a pioneer in revolutionizing the trends in architecture, planning and design. Its advocacies lies strongly on the transformation of cities and communities.
NEW URBANISM
New Urbanism is an urban design movement that addressess the ills of the current expansion development pattern evident in many cities and metropolitan areas today. This offers new and more reponsible models of development through the form of compact, walkable neighborhoods and/or cities or municipalities.
TRANSPORT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT
Transport Oriented Development recognizes the potential of lending complete mixed-use and multi-use communties to transit and inter-modal terminals, airports and sea ports. An urban TOD may be characterized by commercial intensity, job clusters, and moderate to high density residential land use.
HOME OFFICE (SMALL OFFICE HOME OFFICE-SOHO)
The small office home office concept provides the advantage of flexibility in the use of a person's time throughout the day, allowing more time for familly and other activities. The concept also helps in reducing commuting hours, thus minimizing fuel spending.
MULTI-USE AND MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENTS
Multi-use and mixed-use developments usually are major self-sufficient development projects, associated with distinctive identity and place. The diversity of uses is conducive to vibrant and mutually-enhancing daytime and nighttime activities. These kinds of development are defined by the Urban Land Institute as baing characterized by 1.) three or more mutually supporting, revenue-generating uses, such as office, residential condominums, retails, restaurants, cinemas, hotels and others; 2.) with significant physical and functional integration, including pedestrianization; and 3.)developed in conformity with a coherent plan.
MASTER PLANNED COMMUNITIES
Master planned communities are envisioned to be more humanized and more responsive to present-day needs and future growth. This planning concept look on a more compact pattern of development; mixed-use (where residential areas are closeto places of employment, commerce, lesiure and worship) with a strong pedestrian orientation; active civic and community life; closer links between land use and public mass transit and higher housing densities.
