Michael Groth was the winner of the 2008 International Thespian Festival, in the pantomime category. Groth wrote and performed a pantomime act entitled "Holocaust Memorial Statue" which received perfect marks in the regional acting competition that he entered February of 2008, in Portland, Oregon. In April of that year, he then progressed on to the State (Oregon) competition, where he took first place and was showcased for all those competing. Following this, he was sent off to Internationals in Lincoln, Nebraska. In June of 2008, he took first place at internationals in the pantomime category, and was showcased yet again, this time internationally.

This is a primary example of modern physical theater to date.
