Finding rare books

Finding rare books can some times be a long and difficult job, especially when the book you are looking for has a short print run or is so old that very few copies still survive. However, there are several differnet methods in going about your search for that rare book:

Firstly, there is age old method of going around numerous antique and used book shops, this can be a long process and often very frustrating, as many antique and used book shops tend to be quite cluttered and have very little order to the books.

Secondly, searching the internet! Now the internet is a great tool but does have some disadvantages. Mostly due to the fact that there are thousands of online book shops and and book search engines. It can often be a task in just finding the right internat site to find that illusive book.

Thirdly, and this is the method I have found to be most useful. That is by using a company who specialize in rare booksearches. Some companies even provide their booksearch services with no search fees or obligation to purchase the book if they find one. One such company I have used in the past and found to very efficient and quick is Davies & Co. Rare Booksearch Servies at www.rarebooksearch.net . In the past they have been able to find several books that I have been looking for within a couple of weeks. They also supply you with a full set of photo's of the book so you can see it's condition before you purchase and the books purchased are fully insured when they are mailed to you.

I hope this short guide has been some help.
