Monthly Paigham Digest and Paigham-e-Iqbal Digest are famous kids digests for the age group of 10-20 published by Bazm-e-Paigham (A Society for Talented Students of Schools) from Lahore and Rawalpindi. The first editor of Monthly Paighan Digest was Iftikhar Khokhar. The Paigham Digest has won many awards in All Pakistan Competitions of Children Magazine contests. Monthly Paigham Digest is the pioneer in moral and ethical training of Pakistani school going children and educating them since over 30 years. Today, it is not the only children magazine among its values and character building environment, many other magazines like Monthly Saathi (a true companion), Monthly Shaheen (the Falcon), Monthly Roshni (the Light) and Monthly Noor (a revealed Light/ guidance) are famous in Pakistani children. All of the above has distinction in other children magazines available in market with their Islamic touch and moral based reading material. One of the many other salient features is the guidance and encouraging the young writters to improve their writting skils. Many children writters including Akhtar Abbass, Dr. Rizwan Saqib, Dr. Ahmad Hasan Ranjha, Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, Faisal Siddique and Dr. Abdur Rauf Nizami were developed by the same magazine. Of course the name of Dr. Muhammad Iftikhar Khokhar is the highest ranked in modern children literature. Other popular children magazines among Pakistani children are Monthly Taleem-o-Tarbiat (Education and Training), Monthly Phool (the Flower), Monthly Aankh Machooli (the Hide and seek), Monthly Nonehaal (the child), Monthly Bachon ki dunya (children world), Monthly Bagh (the Garden) and the relatively new one but not small Weekly Bachon ka Islam (Islam for children). Actually the last one is published by Daily Islam group as a separate weekly edition for children. Although, all these magazines producing good reading material for children but these are not sufficient for the needs of Pakistani School going children. There is a lot of space in this area. The new emerging trend of TV channels in Pakistan is snatching a worthful time slice of children. Maybe the next magazine will gain popularization, will be a blend of Magazine, TV channel and Internet portal.
