Oxeon is a swedish company that manufacturs spread tow fabrics. The company has its headquearters in the city of Borås in Sweden. Oxeon has two products based on the novel Spread Tow technology: TeXtreme and TeXero. About Oxeon Oxeon was founded in 2003 in Gothenburg, the company worked closely with Chalmers University of Technology in their business incubator called Chalmers Innovation during the start-up. In 2004 the product TeXtreme is first showed, the second product TeXero is released in 2006. Oxeon now is a leading actor in Spread Tow Fabrics, using their novel spreading technology. The history of Oxeon first started in 1995 when Dr. Nandan Khokar invents the tape weaving technology in connection with his research work at Chalmers University of Technology. The tape weaving technology uses tapes instead of yarn. In any given area more fibers can be packed in tape form than in a yarn. A woven material comprising interlacing fibrous tapes, instead of yarns, displays a substantially reduced number of interstices/openings. This means that a tape woven structure presents less accumulation of matrix at the interstices and hence increased fiber volume fraction. The products Both TeXtreme and TeXero are based on the tape waeving technology that is behind Spread Tow Fabrics. The production involves the steps of spreading a tow of higher count, e.g. 12k, into thin-and-wide Spread Tow Tapes (STT) and weaving them into a lightweight fabric (STF). TeXero are dry UD tapes, what above is called Spread Tow Tapes (STT). TeXtreme is the Spread Tow Fabric (STF) that comes when weaving the tapes. Because of the benefits of the Spread Tow technology, TeXtreme is the lightest carbon fabric on the market. Applications Spread Tow Fabrics is used in many different applications, for example are Formula 1, Racing, Hockey sticks, Kiteboards, Helmets, Bicycles. Northkites Select board has been made using TeXtreme. Bauer Hockey are using TeXtreme for their latest
