The Ounavarra Foundation is a charitable organization that was created to support educational causes throughout the world. The organization is based in New York, United States. Joelle O’Reilly-Hyland and created the foundation after they had founded Ounavarra Capital. The foundation has been involved in a number of high profile education cases across the globe. This included recent Pakistan incidents, where Malala Yousafzai was shot and also a number of teachers were assassinated. The charitable organization has also worked in the Middle East and Africa. History After the foundation of Ounavarra Capital, Joelle and Paul O’Reilly-Hyland setup a charity called the Ounavarra Foundation. The charitable organization was created to support educational causes throughout the world. As the foundation has grown, it has become heavily involved in girl’s education in Asia. the Middle East and Africa. As part of the Ounavarra Foundation, she hosted a number of events including the launch of the book "Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think" and other charitable events. She voiced her opinions on the issues about countries such as Pakistan, especially after the attempted assassination of Malala Yousafzai, by armed gunmen. In 2012, her position allowed her to discuss a number of stories in the Huffington Post, regarding events that weren’t publicized in the western media. This included the bombing of schools and the assassination of teachers. Projects The foundation supports a number of projects globally, that aid the development of children’s education. Their main projects have included Ubuntu Africa, Mariposa, Educate Girls Globally and Fabretto Children’s Foundation. Soon after the foundation, Paul O’Reilly-Hyland and Joelle Wyser-Pratte participated in the Westchester Triathlon to raise money for Ubuntu Africa. The organization cares for HIV-positive children in the underserved community of Khayelitsha, South Africa. In addition, Paul O’Reilly-Hyland and Joelle Wyser-Pratte completed an Olympic triathlon .9-mile swim, 25-mile bike ride and 6.2-mile run raising over $10,000 for Ubuntu Africa. Educate Girls Globally is one of the main supported projects by the Ounavarra Foundation. Joelle is the co-chair of the board of EGG. The primary mission of Educate Girls Globally is to provide opportunities for women and girls around the world to achieve their full potential, recognizing that educated women are the world’s most powerful agents of social change. Ounavarra Foundation donated money to open an academic classroom inside Mariposa Foundation’s new complex, which is scheduled to open in three phases. Phase one is coming on line by this summer. In the coming years, Joelle Wyser-Pratte has pledged to fund two additional academic classrooms rooms. The rooms will be named after her two children: Ogden and Oliver. Joelle offers her skills as the strategic advisor to Global Partnerships Forum, which addresses social issues by moving beyond aiding communities to creating real economic empowerment, with the goal of attracting direct foreign investments to create long-term sustainability.
