Edequal is a charity based in the UK, which help and provides support to under privalaged children in Pakistan so they can receive the best education possible. The foundation has been part of numerous demonstrations in the UK to promote issues with children in Pakistan. Their most famous protest was outside Downing Street, after the Taliban in Pakistan shot Malala Yusufzai. This came after her protests against extremism and girl’s education. Background Shahzad and Madiha Ali, to help raise money for children’s education in Pakistan, created the Equal foundation. The foundation is based in North London, to support teachers and students in Pakistan. Notable Protests In October 2012, the Foundation protested outside 10 Downing Street in the UK, after the attempted assassination of a young Pakistani girl by the Taliban. Malala Yusufzai was campaigning for girls’ education and against extremism since the age of 11. At the age of 14, the Taliban shot Yusufzai in an assassination attempt. The incident was covered on both the BBC and CNN. The Edequal Foundation was one of the first UK based charities to offer support and also protested in central London on Saturday 20 October 2012. The foundation also put forward a petition to the UN on girl’s education titled “I am Malala”.
