Open Source Petition to IBM On April 2005 OS2World leaded the petition to IBM to open source OS/2 or the components that can be possible. On September 25 of 2005 the petition was sent to IBM's CEO Sam Palmisano with 11,613 signatures. The petition was not replied for two years, on November 2007 OS2World sent a second letter to IBM's CEO requesting a response. On January 2008, Yvonne M. Perkins, Vice President of Enterprise Platform Software at IBM, responded that since September 2005 IBM considered open sourcing OS/2 but for a variety of business, technical and legal reasons they decided not to open source it. Position against OOXML OS2World also an adopted a position against Microsoft OOXML voting on 2007. It's webmaster, Kim Haverblad, announced at OS2World that Microsoft was buying the Swedish vote. It was denounced that the 23 new companies that applied to take part of the voting was in favor of Microsoft interest. On August 30, 2007 the Swedish OOXML vote was declared invalid.
