Operation Nutcracker, better known as The Nutcracker, is a 2001 video game for the Pocket PC, developed by Jacco Bikker. The music was composed by Fabio Barzagli. Plot The game is set in the year 2050, in London. The player takes control of John Dawson, operator of the Nutcracker, a radio-controlled bomb-disarming vehicle. A bomb has been planted in the Russian Embassy. The Nutcracker is sent to the embassy to defuse the bomb. After a bit of a search, the bomb is found in a isolated room on the ground floor. The bomb cannot be defused yet, as there are wires leading through the walls ; it is possible the bomb is connected to other smaller bombs. The Russian Ambassador, Mr. Elenko, confesses that there is a secret cellar beneath the embassy, where the wires might lead to. The search continues, and a showdown between a laser cannon and the Nutcracker ensues. The person controlling the cannon is the terrorist, Ben Winkel. Winkel has been inactive since 2037, but has since re-emerged. The Nutcracker manages to destroy the cannon. Winkel revealed himself through the radio, and Mission Control has triangulated his position to a building on the other side of the London Sewers. The Nutcracker and Winkel culminate in another showdown, in which Winkel is presumably killed. Meanwhile, the bomb remains ticking at the embassy. Mr. Elenko confesses to having known about a briefcase containing codes for disarming the bomb. He is arrested and is questioned regarding his role in the plot. The bomb is finally disarmed, after a long and gruelling operation. Reviews The game was reviewed favourably by most, with the graphics and "intuitive layout" named as good points of the application.
