Open Source STATistics(abbr.,OSSTAT) is based on the open source software to study statistics that can integrate the software practice and statistical theory more closely. The learning process is following the backcycling pattern of "practice-theory-practice", which will let us not only learn the statistical theory better, but also have a deep insight into the content in the "blackbox" dominating the statistical theory. The mechanism inside the "blackbox" is always masked by the commercial software producers. OSSTAT will provide a challenging idea for spreading statistics,suggesting a better way to master the statistics and also will be helpful for non-statisticians to have the ability to develop new statistical methods and techniques combined with the characteristics in different disciplines.
