In World of Warcraft, Onyxia is a mighty dragon, the daughter of Neltharion the Earthwarder (also known as Deathwing the Destroyer) and sister of Nefarian.
Onyxia currently resides in Dustwallow Marsh, slowly building an army. She also poses as Lady Katrana Prestor, an advisor to the child king of Stormwind, Anduin Wrynn. Through questing, it becomes implied that she is involved in the kidnapping of Varian Wrynn. That influence spreads further through observation of various lore elements in the game. Many people involved in Varian's kidnapping were also involved with the Defias group. The fact that some Stormwind nobles were involved with the Defias, as some Stockades quest proved, implies that Onyxia, through her nobles, has an influence on the Defias group. The kidnapping of King Variann assured her a position of power in Stormwind, and if it was not for adventurers, she would have controlled Stormwind. Players of both factions must complete a relatively long quest in order to be able to enter her lair.
