Global Ethics is a UK-based not-for-profit company founded by Duncan Goose that raises funds by selling a range of products and services under the brand name "One" including its own brand of water. The water itself is supplied by Global Ethics, a limited company that donates all its profits to fund Playpumps and other types of water pumping systems to bring clean drinking water to rural communities in South Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. These profits fund the installation of innovative 'roundabout PlayPumps’. These water pumps are constructed with a children’s roundabout connected to them, the rotation of which drives the pumping mechanism to draw water from nearby wells. Launched in 2004, One Water has benefitted from publicity through the support of various celebrities, including actress Claire Goose (Duncan’s sister), Doctor Who star David Tennant, and others. The water itself is currently available from a number of retailers, including supermarket chains Tesco, Waitrose and Morrisons. One Water has helped raise enough money to install PlayPumps in over a dozen locations in Africa, and aims to install many more. Information about these projects, including field reports and video footage, can be viewed on the official One Water website. On 21 May 2007, Duncan was presented with the accolade of ‘Greatest Briton 2007’ - for the ‘campaigner’ category at an awards ceremony held in London, in association with The Sun newspaper and Marks & Spencer. The two other Campaigner nominees were Keirra Box and Shami Chakrabarti. The event was hosted by X-Factor presenter Kate Thornton, while Duncan’s award was presented to him by former Spice-Girl Geri Halliwell. The whole ceremony was broadcast live on ITV and video of Duncan accepting his award is available to view on the One Water website.
