On:Q is Qantas' in-flight entertainment system. It has numerous versions but the flagship at the present time is the iQ AVOD developed by Panasonic.
On:Q Mainscreen
On:Q Mainscreen is the prominent entertainment system featured on Qantas flights. It features:
* Movies on flights over 3 hours (Australia and International)
* TV Programs
* Q Radio
This system is featured on:
* All Boeing 737-400 aircraft (aisle video screens).
* All Boeing 737-800 aircraft (LCD drop-down video screens).
* All Boeing 767 aircraft (aisle video screens and projector format).
* Domestic configured Airbus A330-200 aircraft (LCD drop-down video screens), newer Airbus A330-200 aircraft (domestic) have the new iQ system.
On:Q PTV
Introduced with the Boeing 767, the On:Q PTV system was a personal entertainment system for Business Class passengers. It included:
* 6 Movie Channels
* 2 TV Channels
An updated version designed by Panasonic Avionics was introduced during the international fleet enhancement program, which commenced in June 1998 this included:
* 6 Movies Channels
* 3 TV Programs
* Flight Navigation Information
* Video Player and 60 films to choose from
On:Q PTV System is featured on Boeing 767 aircraft featuring the Dreamtime Business Class seats.
Total Entertainment System
Total Entertainment System was introduced in 2001, it is Qantas' major IFE development since introducing PTVs for First and Business Class. It was designed by Rockwell Collins. The entertainment system was made available to all classes on board the Boeing 747-400 aircraft, then later on the A330-300 it featured:
* 16 cm TV Screens for Economy and 21 cm Screens for First and Business
* 7 Movie Channels (12 for First and Business)
* 5 TV Channels (6 for First and Business)
* 16 CD Quality Audio Channels
* 10 Games
* News, Flight Information
* PC Power for First and Business
* Personal Phone in every seat
* Entertainment Menu in 8 languages
This entertainment system has since been upgraded to Audio and Video on Demand (AVOD).
Total Entertainment System (B747-300)
The Boeing 747-300 version of Total Entertainment System was designed by Panasonic Avionics and can be differentiated from the normal version found on Boeing 747 and Airbus A330 aircraft by the PTVs in Economy (as they have the brightness adjust on the monitor) and the handset that is used to control the system.
This version features:
* Broadcast video system (non-AVOD)
* 12 Video Channels
* Games with some multiplayer compatibility
* Phone in every seat
* News, Flight Information
This system is no longer in use due to retirement of Boeing 747-300 aircraft.
Total Entertainment System with AVOD
In 2005, Qantas introduced TES with AVOD on all Boeing 747-400 aircraft and all Airbus A330-300 aircraft. Features include:
* 60 Movies
* 200 TV programs, including destination guides
* 20 Q Radio Channels
* 150 CDs
* Moving Map
* 10 Games
TES with AVOD is available on:
* All Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 747-400ER aircraft
* All Airbus A330-300 aircraft
* Internationally configured Airbus A330-200 aircraft
iQ==
iQ is the newest in-flight entertainment system of Qantas. It is developed by Panasonics Avionics Corporation, and based on the eX2 Entertainment System. The system offers over 1000 entertainment options, features include:
* 17 Inch PTV (First)
* 12 Inch PTV (Business)
* 10.6 Inch PTV (Premium Economy & Economy)
* 100 Movies
* 500 Television Programs
* 1000 CDs
* 50 Audio Books
* 80 Games
* Dedicated kids zone
* Lonely Planet Destination Guides
* Language Tutorial Software
* Personal Phone in each seat
* PC Connectivity in all seats
* USB Ports in all seats
* Internet Connectivity (to be made available shortly)
iQ is available on all:
* Airbus A380 aircraft
* Airbus A330-200 aircraft (delivered from December 2009, Aircraft: VH-EBM)
* Boeing 737-800 aircraft (delivered from 2009 and onwards)
and will be made available on:
* Boeing 787 aircraft
Qantas has recently announced that nine Boeing 747-400 aircraft will be upgraded to include the new iQ system.
