Emirates Inflight Entertainment

Emirates Inflight Entertainment is the entertainment offered on board Emirates Airline aircraft. At present, Emirates have 3 operational versions of their entertainment system. Emirates is also one of very few airlines to have all their aircraft fitted with an entertainment system and Personal TVs in all seats in all classes. Recently, Emirates have begun using their entertainment system, in particular ICE as part of their marketing campign, something Singapore Airlines has been doing for years with Krisworld and succeeded. History Emirates was one of the very first airlines to offer all class personal entertainment systems. With its introduction in the early 90s, it has been an Emirates policy since to fit all seats with inseat screens and an entertainment system. This led to all aircraft offering PTV entertainment on all routes. TV & Radio 1.0 (Now: Defunct) TV & Radio 1.0 was one of the vert first IFE Emirates offered. Introduced in the early 90s it featured: * Loop-cycle programming * PTVs in all classes * 6 Channels of Movies/ TV Entertainment * 8 Channels of Audio Entertainment * Flight Path This system has only been known to be featured on the Airbus A310. Since the A310 has retired, so did the system. TV & Radio 2.0 TV & Radio 2.0 was introduced with the Boeing 777 aircraft. It features: * Loop-cycle programming * 17 Video Channels * 22 Digital Audio Channels * Airshow * Personal Phone in every seat * External Camera Channel (view take-offs; landings and en-route scenery) * 50 films, exclusively for First Class & Personal Video Player * 6.5in TV screens This entertainment system is still found on some Boeing 777 aircraft. Aircraft with TV & Radio 2.0 are progressively being upgraded to ICE Digital Widescreen. TV & Radio 3.0 TV & Radio 3.0 was introduced with later model Boeing 777 aircraft. It still retained the TV & Radio designation despite being far superior to version 1.0 and 2.0 because it still featured loop cycle programming. This entertainment system was manufactured by Panasonic Avionics Corporation (previously incorporated as Matsushita Avionics Systems). It features: * Loop-cycle programming * 18 Video Channels * 26 Audio Channels * 50 Video Games * SMS and E-Mail services * Personal Phone in each seat * Airshow * External Camera Channel (view take-offs; landings and en-route scenery) * 50 films, available for First and Business class passengers on selected aircraft * Laptop power * 10.6 inch PTVs for First and Business * 6.5 inch PTVs for Economy This entertainment system is available on: * Later delivered Boeing 777 aircraft * Airbus A330-200 aircraft * Airbus A340-300 aircraft Aircraft with TV & Radio 3.0 are progressively being upgraded to ICE or ICE Digital Widescreen ICE ICE or Information; Communication and Entertainment is one of the latest entertainment systems to be released by Emirates. The system debut on the Airbus A340-500 aircraft and has since been installed on aircraft delivered to Emirates. It is based on the Panasonic Avionics Corporation (previously incorporated as Matsushita Avionics Systems) 3000i system. It features: * Audio and Video on Demand (AVOD) * 150 Movies * 50 TV Programs * 350 Radio and music channels in multiple languages * 40 video games * Airshow channel * External Camera Channel (view take-offs; landings and en-route scenery) * In seat phones, e-mail and SMS communcation * Laptop Power or laptop recharging facilities * 9 inch Personal TV (Economy) * 15 inch Personal TV (Business - A340-500 and Selected B777-300ER aircraft); 19 inch Personal TV (Business - Selected B777-300ER aircraft) * 19 inch Personal TV (First) This entertainment system is available on: * Airbus A340-500 aircraft * Boeing 777-300ER aircraft * Selected Boeing 777-200LR aircraft (aircraft which were delivered before 2008 * Selected Boeing 777-200 and Boeing 777-300 aircraft which have been retrofitted with this system
