Use in education The term was officially introduced in the history books of September 1, 2011. The use is compulsory for educational institutions of Russia. The Unified State Exam assessment system has questions about the Old Russian state. The new term is promoted by official conferences. A joint meeting of official Russian culture and education councils introduced an "All-Russian Olympiad of history of Old Russian state", a literary contest for students. Use in politics In 2009, deputies of State Duma of Russia stressed that Kiev is the capital of Old Russian state and it originates Russian culture.
