Oklahomans for Responsible Government

Oklahomans for Responsible Government (OFRG) is a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to promoting fiscal responsibility, transparency and accountability in state government.

Term Limits
OFRG was the leading advocate for legislation that would establish term limits for state-wide elected officials during the second session of the 51st Oklahoma Legislature (2008). The group was successful in passing SB 1987 out of the Oklahoma House of Representatives but was blocked in the Oklahoma Senate during the final week.

SB 1987 was a legislative referendum that would have allowed Oklahoma voters to decide the issue in November 2008 during on the general election ballot. The bill faced opposition from Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson and Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins. Both elected officials are facing reelection in 2010, when the policy would have been in effect.
