OCEF

Overseas China Education Foundation (OCEF), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to helping disadvantaged children in rural China on education and improving the education conditions of the schools in these areas.
In People's Republic of China, millions of children still live in poverty and struggle for a chance to receive basic education. While you may take education for granted, these children have to pursue it with the utmost perseverance. In many areas, they have to hike miles in the mountains everyday to attend school. Young children sometimes take classes standing because there are not enough chairs around. To save on school supplies, the students often use sticks as pencils to write on the ground to practice writing and arithmetic...
For these children, a little help can go a long way. Since inception in 1993, OCEF, one of the leading grassroots organizations to support the education of disadvantaged children in China, has sponsored more than 26,000 Grade 1-9 students and over 2,000 high school students who may have otherwise dropped out of school to continue their education.
History
In October 1992, OCEF was first registered as SOS China Education Fund in California.
In April 2001, OCEF reregistered in Texas under its current name, and later in California in September 2004.
OCEF has also launched a program in Illinois state.
