The NSW Premiers Student Volunteering Awards program is an program that was set up in 2010 (by then premier Kristina Keneally) to encourage teenagers to get involved with volunteering. The awards are issued by, and signed by the current Premier. How the Award Works When a school elects to participate in the program the principle assigns a teacher the role of Premiers Student Volunteering Awards program Co-ordinator. The student can then log onto the online log book and start logging hours of volunteering, and getting proof from the co-ordinators of the volunteering event. When all the proof lists collected and handed to the schools award co-ordinator the hours are validated. Levels # Bronze: achieved by logging 20 hours of volunteering # Silver: achieved by logging 40 hours of volunteering # Gold: achieved by logging 60 hours of volunteering # Diamond: achieved by logging 80 hours of volunteering Achieving The Awards When award levels have been met, awards are printed and sent to the school principal to the awarded to the student. Scholarships Each year the award hand out Learning scholarships to 10 students from the state, at the value of $2000, who have been recognised for their volunteering. Anybody who have achieved over 60 hours of volunteering can apply for the scholarship. Schools can also apply for $5000 grants for being actively participating in the program.
