Nozdormu

In the fictional Warcraft universe, Nozdormu the Timeless One is a character first seen in the Blizzard Entertainment novel, Warcraft: Day of the Dragon, written by Richard A. Knaak.

Biography

Nozdormu, head of the bronze dragonflight, one of the most powerful creatures of the world of Azeroth, was chosen along with the leaders of the other four dragonflights by the Titan Pantheon to watch over Azeroth after their departure. He was empowered by the Titan Aman'thul to police time itself and thus became known as the Timeless One

During the War of the Ancients Nozdormu and his bronze dragonflight joined ranks of a resistance force under the leadership of the black leviathan, Neltharion the Earth Warder to fight against the fearsome Burning Legion. Neltharion convinced his fellow Aspects to create a powerful artifact by combining a part of their essence and use it to rid their world of demons. Unknownst to the other Aspects, however, Neltharion did not imbue the artifact, later known as the Demon Soul, with his power. Although he at first led the dragons in their battle against the demons, Neltharion soon turned on them. With a large portion of their powers trapped in the Demon Soul, the other Aspects were unable to resist the insane Neltharion, and soon retreated from the field.

After the Sundering of the World, Nozdormu journeyed with Alexstrasza, leader of the red dragonflight and the Aspect of Life, to Mount Hyjal to see the recreated Well of Eternity. Knowing that the existence of the Well would always carry risk of the Burning Legion's return, Alexstrazsa dropped a seed at the center of the lake, and it burst into the World Tree that would be known as Nordrassil. Nozdormu placed an enchantment upon the Tree to ensure as long as the Tree lived, its protectors, the Night Elves, would never age or fall prey to sickness or disease. After that, Nozdormu disappeared into the Caverns of Time where he brooded and lost all interest in the world except for various artifacts that his mysterious servants would bring him.

This disinterest ended 10,000 years later when the red dragon, Korialstrasz, with the help of Ysera, managed to convince Nozdormu to aid him in his effort to restore the dragons to their past glory. Nozdormu aided the other Aspects in freeing Alexastrasza from the Orcs that had enslaved her and the red dragonflight using the Demon Soul. The appearance of Neltharion, now known as Deathwing, sparked a battle between him and the other four Aspects, but it wasn't until the Human wizard Rhonin managed to destroy the Demon Soul that the Aspects were able to prevail, driving away a seriously injured Deathwing.

Several years later, Nozdormu noticed a discontinuity in space and time that threatened to tear the world apart. Forced to use all of his powers (along with the powers of all his previous selfs) to simply prevent the rip from growing, he called upon the red dragon Korialstrasz to investigate the discontinuity. Korialstrasz, in his customary guise of a High Elf wizard known as Krasus, and Rhonin were sent back in time to the era of the War of the Ancients when they were engulfed by the discontinuity (Nozdormu knew that the source of the discontinuity was somewhere in that era, and thus sent the two there). They soon discovered that the Old Gods, in an attempt to re-enter Azeroth, had discovered a way to usurp the Burning Legion's portal. The power of the Well of Eternity, which was central to the Old Gods' plan, was the source of the discontinuity. The destruction of the Well at the end of the war, however, foiled their plans and repaired space-time. During that period, Nozdormu's interests were represented by his prime mate, Saridormi. Nozdormu then sent Krasus and Rhonin back to the present time in order to prevent further damage to the timeline.
