Nouns DAO

Nouns DAO is a built around the Nouns project.
"Nouns are an experimental attempt to improve the formation of on-chain avatar communities. While projects such as CryptoPunks have attempted to bootstrap digital community and identity, Nouns attempt to bootstrap identity, community, governance, and a treasury that can be used by the community."
Artwork (Nouns)
Nouns are randomly generated non-fungible tokens based on Ethereum blockchain. A single noun is composed of five different components (background, body, head, glasses and accessory), each of which is picked from a group of available assets based on Ethereum block hashes. The original artwork was created by the founding members, so called Nounders, and is a part of public domain (CC0), which allows anyone to use it for their own benefit. The artwork is stored on-chain, as opposed to using IPFS.

“One Noun, every day, forever.” The generation and distribution of Nouns is done by the Nouns Auction Contract, auctioning one Noun every 24 hours, forever. All of the auction proceeds (in ETH) are automatically deposited in the Nouns DAO treasury, where they are governed by Noun owners.
Governance
Nouns DAO uses a fork of Compound governance with each NFT (each Noun) giving it's owner one vote over the DAO's treasury. The treasury is controlled exclusively by Nouns, with one exception being a special veto right held by the founders (Nounders). This veto right was introduced to ensure that no malicious proposals can be passed while the Noun supply is low. This veto right will only be used if an obviously harmful governance proposal has been passed, and is intended as a last resort. Nounders will proveably revoke this veto right when they deem it safe to do so. This decision will be based on a healthy Noun distribution and a community that is engaged in the governance process.

Notable actions
Naming a newly discovered glass frog
A recently discovered species of glass frog found in Ecuador was named Hyalinobatrachium noun<nowiki/>s following a donation to EcoMinga Foundation and its partner the Rainforest Trust (making it possibly the first animal species named after a DAO).
Studio1
Studio1 is an organization under the umbrella of Nouns, built in collaboration with David Horvath, the co-creator of Uglydoll, dedicated to proliferating Nouns in the traditional IP business, with the goal of furthering the brand, the project, and the idea of ‘open source’ content in Hollywood and beyond.
Partnering up with BudLight
BudLight has become an official member of Nouns DAO following a BudLight is provably an active member of the DAO and has voted on multiple proposals.
Collaborating with The Skatepark Project
The Skatepark Project is an organisation funded by Tony Hawk that helps communities build public skate parks for youth in underserved communities.
Donation for Emergency Humanitarian Assistance in Ukraine
Nouns DAO donated money to UNICEF to support Ukrainian families impacted by Russian invasion of Ukraine in early 2022.
