Noomap is a collaborative holonic mapping technology and 'new-paradigm' co-creative social network, designed to empower communication, connection, sharing and co-creation over the internet. The technology and network is titled 'noomap' in relation to the noosphere of Earth: the term combines the Greek word νοῦς (nous "mind") and Latin word "map", since the technology provides a dynamic digital-technological reflection, or map, of the evolving noosphere. The title is also chosen in relation to the word "new" to connote a "new map" of the world, and a map of the "new", i.e., a 'new-paradigm' of human consciousness and interaction. History Noomap and the concept of the holonic map was invented by Chris Larcombe in 2011, and was first known as Waysphere during its early development. The purpose of Waysphere was to increase the visibility of planetary systems through the sharing and collaborative mapping of perceptions represented as holons - primarily in order to facilitate the emergence of a self-organising global gift economy, reducing dependence on centralised hierarchical socio-economic systems threatening planetary homeostasis. The concept and technology was subsequently further developed as a 'new-paradigm' social network, in order to empower self-organisation and autonomous co-creation more generally on an individual and collective level. The original intention to facilitate the emergence of alternative socio-economic structures was preserved by providing a space in Noomap for mapping resources and skills with open and flexible access conditions, allowing users to define their own systems by specifying their own access conditions.
