Nona Dirksmeyer

The daughter of Paul and Carol Yvette Larpenter Dirksmeyer, Nona Carol Dirksmeyer was born on December 26 1985, in Zachary, LA. She was a 2004 graduate of Dover High School. Miss Dirksmeyer attended Arkansas Tech University and was a sophomore majoring in music education, participating as a member of both the Concert Chorale and the Chamber Choir.

Before entering college, Nona was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters; former Pope County Fair Queen and Miss Teen Mount Nebo. Nona was crowned Miss Petit Jean Valley 2005 and went on to also compete in the Miss Arkansas Pageant in 2005.

Allegedly, Nona Dirksmeyer was also a surviving victim of childhood incest from her birth father, although she would be raised later in life by her mother and step-father. Nona Dirksmeyer, 19, of Russellville died violently on Thursday, December 15, 2005. Perhaps, leading to the motive for her murder, Nona had became promiscuous in college; of course, the young men in her life were interviewed. The police settled on her long-term boyfriend as the prime suspect.

Kevin Jones (Nona Dirksmeyer's actual boyfriend at the time and not one of her lovers) was thoroughly investigated for the killing of Nona. Later, police would arrest Jones, because of Nona's blood found on his person (from trying to revive her, Jones stated) and a condom wrapper that was thought to give him motive for the murder. However, a jury in Franklin County found him "not guilty" after two days of deliberation.

Kevin Jones as a subsequence to this whole affair, as well as his mother, would feel shunned by many people in the area of his residence. However, DNA from the previously mentioned condom wrapper has led to another suspect, albeit Kevin Jones' legal team has had to insist upon authorities to investigate further. The only thing known is that the possible suspect is a male, although this person's name has yet to be released.

The case of Nona Dirksmeyer and Kevin Jones can be viewed on an episode of CBS' 48 Hours that was originally aired on February 9, 2008.
