A Philadelphia native, Nomi Deutch graduated with Honors from Penn State University in May 2005 with a degree in Political Science. She completed a master's degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics in December 2007, focusing her studies on European Union, Russia/Central Asia, and Middle East Foreign Policy. Her master's dissertation was entitled, "Russia's Middle East Policy Under Putin: The Cases of Iran and Israel."
In 2005 Deutch received the Reddy Mission Award which honors one Penn State senior who has excelled in all parts of the Schreyer Honors College mission: academic excellence, globalization, and civic engagement. She was also awarded a U.S. government Fulbright scholarship to Turkey in 2005, and also has diplomatic and political advocacy experience as a 2004 intern within the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus, and a 2002 intern with AIPAC in Washington, DC. Nomi Deutch was also a 2003-2004 Fellow with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.
Directorship Deutch assumed the Directorship of JIMENA in January 2008.
