Nestan Bagration-Davitashvili (); (born 19 October 1976 in Tbilisi) is a Georgian pianist, singer and composer. Biography Nestan Bagration-Davitashvili was born into an artistic family of royal lineage. Her father, Shota Bagration-Davitashvili, who was a film and theater director, had a great influence on her artistic development. Her mother, Eteri Kharadze, was a journalist. From 1982-1994 she studied piano with at the Z. Paliashvili Central Music School. From 1995-1999 she studied at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, first with Prof. Nana Dimitriadi and then as a post-graduate with Prof. Natela Kvirkvelia in the disciplines of piano and chamber music. From 1996-2003 she studied composition with Prof. Nodar Mamisashvili. During this time she was able to develop her own personal style, one which is moves beyond conventional categories. Her first CD Echo came out in 2002. In 2004 she moved to Germany to complete further post-graduate studies as a soloist in the disciplines chamber music and “Liedgestaltung” (song interpretation) with Prof. Wolfgang Wagenhäuser at the State Music Conservatory in Trossingen. In 2005 her second CD+DVD Chrono appeared, which featured music for two percussion instruments. This was followed by her third CD Vato, a live recording from a solo performance in Stuttgart. In 2013 she recorded her fourth CD Back Home. Nestan Bagration-Davitashvili was awarded the special prize “Discovery of Festival” at the Margarita 96 Festival in Tbilisi. She is the recipient of both a DAAD Fellowship and a scholarship from the Organization “Live Music Now”, which was initiated by Yehudi Menuhin. In 2010 she was offered a teaching position at the State Music Conservatory in Trossingen under the Mathilde Planck Program for especially qualified women. In 2007 she founded the women’s choir “Stimma Dizza”, which she directed until 2014. In October 2014 Nestan Bagration-Davitashvili had one of her piano compositions chosen to be included in the collection of contemporary piano music 12/12. The German premier of her piano piece “Improvisation” was given at the International Feminist Art Music Festival Berlin 2015. Nestan Bagration-Davitashvili currently lives in Berlin, Germany.
