neo.org is a free social networking website, launched in May 2007, that allows users around the world to organize and share projects and ideas. They do this through making a Personal Declaration for Action telling what they stand for in making the world a better place.
By December of 2008, over 36,000 members have joined the site and made their own personal Declarations.
Foundation
In 2007, Bill Liao, co-founder of social networking service XING, founded neo.org, a philanthropic venture and social networking site where people can make a personal commitment for the future of the earth.
Neo.org is owned and operated by the Neo Institute Stiftung in Switzerland an independent and neutral not for profit foundation in the Canton of Appenzell. Neo is an international non-profit organization based in Switzerland and supported by a team of individuals from across the globe.
The citizenship Declaration was prepared by several diverse and anonymous authors refined over time and is designed to represent literally everyone.
Features
With a current base of over 36,000 members, the neo.org community is dedicated to making the world a better place. The site is easy to use.
You make a declaration for action saying what you stand for to make the world a better place. (It can be something small or something big as long as its something good). Then you can invite people you know to support your declaration. (The more supporters your declaration gets the more impact it can have)
Forum
You have your own forum where you can make posts about the actions you and others are taking to forward your declaration. (When you have lots of activity and lots of supporters Neo.org will notice).
When Neo.org notices you they start looking for funding and expertise for you to accelerate the impact of what you are achieving.
