Nelson Briefer

Nelson Briefer is an American ornithologist, blogger, and author.
Briefer is best known for his study of the Northern Goshawk, particularly in urban areas such as Tucson and Seattle, and claims to be the world's foremost expert on goshawks. Briefer claims that such cities house large populations of goshawks, even those out of the range of the species on published range maps. Briefer publishes photographs and reports of his observations on his four goshawk blogs. Some birdwatchers have claimed that Briefer's identifications are often false and based on irrelevant information and faulty logic, provided by his insistence on identifying the bird before field marks can be observed.
Briefer is also the author of the book The Man Who Saw Too Many Goshawks, published by self-publishing company Smashwords Edition. The book details his adventures traveling from city to city in search of goshawks.
