"Neenah Menasha" is a song by American rock band Sponge. It was released in 1994 as the first single from their debut album Rotting Piñata. The title of the song is a reference to the twin cities Neenah and Menasha in Wisconsin. Release and reception Sony Music chief Don Ienner reportedly heard a Sponge demo from his son, and once signed, label staff were impressed with the big, full sound of "Neenah Menasha" when it was played in a company listening session alongside upcoming singles from Mariah Carey and other hitmakers. "Neenah Menasha" did not receive much airplay on radio or MTV however, and did not chart. Music video The music video for "Neenah Menasha" was released in 1994 and was directed by Paul Andresen. The video features the band performing in a room designed to look like a cavern, with torn fabric hanging from above and sand on the floor. Clips of a woman behind bars feature throughout.
