Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste, sometimes shortened to Memphis, is the first single released by American Christian metalcore band Norma Jean from their debut album Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child. It is one of the bands most known songs. Song Style The style of the song is the band's typical metalcore style. The song starts with a growl from singer Josh Scogin, followed by a guitar melody played for almost a minute. The song continues, then the last minute of the song is a poem, sung with screams in the background. Music Video The video for the song aired on Uranium and Headbangers Ball. The video features the band playing in open field and a man wondering around a city, most likely Memphis. The video keeps cutting back and forth between the band and the man.
