NeDi is an open source network management framework which makes use of scheduled discovery. It has a web based user interface and uses SQL for its backend. NeDi makes use of the Cisco Discovery Protocol to scan a network and discover Cisco devices on the network (as well as any other devices on that network which support CDP). NeDi's web interface allows one to search against various aspects of a client including its MAC address, IP address, and NIC type - making it relatively easy to determine where a device sits in a network.
NeDi forms part of the commercial GroundWork IT Monitoring Package.
