History
The national team is the most important organ of the Nauru Amateur Soccer Association. NASA was formed in 1973 and since then has been inconspicuous outside of the country. The federation is as yet unrecognized by either FIFA or the OFC as an official national soccer federation. There are no soccer stadiums in Nauru; though there was an incomplete sports stadium in Meneng.
On 2 October 1994 the Nauruan national soccer team played an unofficial friendly match in Denigomodu against selection of Solomon Islanders working on Nauru at the time. Nauru won the match 2-1 against them.
