Sahrawi national football team

The Sahrawi national football team is the representative football team of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic in Western Sahara, and is controlled by the Fédération Sahraoui du Footballe. Because of a lack of international recognition for the state itself, the team is not affiliated with FIFA or the Confederation of African Football, and therefore cannot compete for the FIFA World Cup or African Cup of Nations. Since 2003, it has been a provisional member of the NF Board, an organisation set up for national football associations which are not represented within FIFA.
The team played several friendly matches against Algerian clubs in 1984, 1986 and 1994. In 1988, they played against Le Mans football club in France losing 3-2. They also took part in matches Spain (in 1987) and in Italy (in 1994).
The team's official home stadium is in El Aaiún, which is currently under Moroccan administration.
