Nate Fish is a baseball player who is currently the Israel Association of Baseball’s National Director. Previously he served as the head coach for the Israel national baseball team in international tournaments. Early career Fish began his playing at Shaker Heights High School where he was a three-time all-region selection. He then played for the University of Cincinnati and was a teammate of Kevin Youkilis. As a senior he was the captain of the Bearcat team, and set the Conference USA record for hits in a single game with six. Fish also competed on team USA for the Maccabiah Games (It is the third-largest sporting event in the world, with 9,000 athletes competing on behalf of 78 countries. The Maccabiah, which is organized by the Maccabi World Union, and is under the auspices of and supervision of, the International Olympic Committee and international sports federations). Fish tried out for professional baseball, but no team signed him. International career In 2007 Fish won the Gold Glove Award as the best defensive infielder in the league, as part of the Tel Aviv Lightning of the short lived Israel baseball league. The following year, he played for and coached the Haar Disciples in the Bundesliga, Germany’s top pro league and has also played in Argentina, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Nate Fish played for the Israel national baseball team during the 2013 World Baseball Classic - Qualification Tournament which nearly made the 2013 World Baseball Classic losing to Spain in the Finals. Coaching career On May 11, 2012, Fish was named the head coach of the junior Maccabi USA team. He served as an assistant coach for the Israel national team during the 2011 European Championship. In 2013, he emigrated to Israel, with the purpose of promoting baseball there. On August 1, 2013, Fish became the Israel Association of Baseball’s National Director. He oversees all aspects of the baseball program and is a member of the senior baseball team Fish's role is to promote baseball within Israel and to recruit Jewish collegiate players to tutor Israelis about the game On May 23, 2016, Peter Kurz, Israel Association of Baseball's president, mentioned that Fish will join the coaching staff for Israel national baseball team for the 2017 World Baseball Classic - Qualification Tournament.
