Narendra Gurjar

Narendra Singh Gurjar (born 26 January 1969) is an Indian Politician serving as the current Chairman of the Kosi Kalan Municipality (Nagar Palika Parishad) of Mathura District in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Gurjar is a member of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). He is the first Chairman of the Municipality from a reserved category (OBC). He is a social worker and has held many posts in the party before winning the Municipal Election in the year 2017 against the BJP candidate.
Early Life and Education
Narendra Gurjar was born on 26 January 1969 to a family of farmers and landlords in Husaini Village, Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh. He is the second of four children born to Indi Singh and Harwati Devi. His father was government teacher. Gurjar's grandfather Mr. Nihal Singh was a freedom fighter and was elected to the post of Block Pramukh of Chhata Block in Mathura District. It is widely known that they had an Elephant as their pet. His family moved to Kosi Kalan from his native village Husaini during his childhood.
Gurjar has a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from P.M.V. Polytechnic College in Mathura. He was the Sports General-Captain of his college and is keenly interested in Wrestling and used to practice it regularly during his youth.
Gurjar has two sisters and a brother. He is Married to Mrs. Sushila. The couple has two sons and two daughters.
Social-Political Career
Narendra Gurjar has been active in Social welfare works since 1992. He has helped build a lot of ROs in the Mathura district to provide safe drinking water for the common public as the ground water in many areas is not consumable. He regularly organizes public-marriage ceremonies where economically poor couples are given financial helps. His has an NGO which works for the welfare of orphans and old people. He also organizes eye, blood and other health check-up camps.
Gurjar helps recognise young talent in sports with yearly Cricket, Wrestling and Volleyball tournaments.
Although he was an active member of Bahujan Samaj Party since 1994, he contested his first election in 2017 and was elected to the post of Chairman of the Kosi Kalan Nagar Palika Parishad (Municipality). His brother's wife is the Pradhan or Sarpanch of his native village Husaini. He is known to have the ear of ex-CM of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati. Gurjar has close links to Mr. Shyam Sundar Sharma, an 8-time MLA from Maant Assembly of the Mathura District and recognizes Sharma as his Political Guru.
