My Place in the Cosmos is a Boston based group made up of four talented musicians. They first hit it big when winning first place at the Concerts First Battle of the Bands at the Worcester Palladium, beating out 59 other groups from all over New England. The band includes:
Kevin Durrance - Vocals, Bass, Keyboard Jon Benson - Guitar, Vocals, Keyboard John Gionet - Guitar Ethan Cheesman - Drums and Percussion
Former members: Brian Durrance- Drums and Percussion Justin Obara - Guitar, Vocals
My Place In The Cosmos formed in 2003 when brothers Kevin and Brian Durrance teamed up with Jon Benson and formed a trio. The band experimented with a second guitarist, Justin Obara, but it didn't work out. My Place In The Cosmos constantly recorded up until Fall 2005 when guitarist John Gionet was asked to join. In April 2006, percussionist Brian Durrance left the band but found his own replacement in Ethan Cheesman (formerly of Burning Portrait and Rainsford). On May 13th 2006, My Place In The Cosmos took the main stage at the Worcester Palladium at 9:50 pm. They performed a powerful five song set that stunned the judges. At the end of the night they were announced the winners.
During spring 2006 My Place In The Cosmos released their debut EP titled "Catatonic" on Mass Recovery Records. Although four different drummers were used to record the album, it was fairly well received despite the uneven feeling it holds.
