Muslim Legal Fund of America

The Muslim Legal Fund of America is a charity that funds legal work and programs to defend Muslims’ legal rights in American courtrooms, prisons, and communities. MLFA is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
Mission and History
MLFA was established in 2001 by Dallas area activists who were concerned about government curtailing of Muslim’s legal rights in America following 9/11. The organization funds cases based on perceived or potential violations of due process and other constitutional rights.

Funding and Grants
*Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America (CLCMA): MLFA awarded a $1,500,000 grant to CLCMA in August 2014.
*UC Hastings: MLFA awarded a two-year grant of $410,000 to UC Hastings College of the Law in July 2014 to help them establish the Liberty, Security and Technology Clinic (LSTC).
*UT Austin: MLFA awarded a series of grants totaling $310,000 to University of Texas at Austin School of Law to help them establish the National Security Defense Project in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
