The MTV Effect is a social phenomenon suggested by international scholar Amy B. Frumin, an International Affairs Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations. The term refers to limitations and inaccuracies in the public understanding of significant world events, and can also apply to a public reluctance to learn more about such significant world events.Basically, it's what happens when stupid arrogant people hear something from TV or their friends and pretend to know what the hell they are tallking about. The "MTV Effect" received further national attention when Ms. Frumin was interviewed on the CBS Evening News, broadcast May 11, 2008. The MTV Effect has aspects touching sociology, psychology, and social history as well as politics and media studies.
