Morris Young Ltd.

Morris Young Ltd. was a Scottish road haulage company founded in 1948 by Morris Young. It supplied construction machinery throughout Scotland's Central Belt. Based in Perth, Scotland, it ceased trading, after 70 years, in June 2020 due to the firm's directors, Colin (b. 1949) and David Young (b. 1946), sons of Morris, susceptibility to falling victim to COVID-19, due to both being in their 70s. It had already furloughed its workforce.
Established in 1948, prior to ceasing trade, the company employed sixteen people and had a lorry fleet of thirty. and his wife, Janet (b. 1917), set up the business with a single tractor. Morris had missed out on securing his father's tenancy at Hilton of Gask. He acquired Hillyland Farm, which sits on twenty acres, from Mungo Murray, 7th Earl of Mansfield, in 1952 and bought the first of his lorries the following year. His sons joined the business in the early 1960s and it expanded the firm's haulage and plant hire interests.
