Morris City Pool

The City of Morris (Illinois) Pool was founded in 1922. It is located at 300 Northern Drive in Goold Park. Goold Park, and subsequently the pool, is located in the center of Morris, IL across from Morris Community High School. An upgrade to the pool occurred in 1958 with a cinder block bath house. A major renovation was completed to the pool in the summer of 2012.
The 2012 renovations included an array of water features as well as a beach entry, a three-flume-28-foot water slide, a 3-meter olympic diving board, a 1-meter olympic diving board, eight 25 meter swim lanes, and a splash pad with water features for the little ones. The footprint of the pool is about 8,900 square feet while the pool volume is about 267,000 gallons. Additional renovations in 2012 include two new pump houses, new vacuum DE filtration, concession stand, and a new chemical feed building. The pool basin is constructed of stainless steel panels over-layed with a state-of-art RenoSys PVC liner.
The new pool was added under Mayor Dick Kopczick, Alderman Duane Wolfe, Alderman Julian Houston, Alderman Randy Larson, Alderman Don Hanson, Alderman Drew Muffler, Alderman Bill Martin, Alderman Barry Aldrich, and Alderman Ken Sereno. City Engineer for the renovation was Mike Perry of Chamlin and Associates while Keith Townsend of RenoSys (Indianapolis, IN) was the supervising contractor. Local sub-contractors included Barry Plumbing, Narvick Construction, D-Construction, and D-Construction Electric.
