Montgomery Fellowship String Quartet

The Montgomery Fellowship String Quartet is a string quartet comprised of the principal chairs of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and sponsored by the Pittsburgh Chamber Music society. It was established in 2000 in honor of the Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society's founding director, Ruth M. Montgomery. The quartet is coached by Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra violinist Jeremy Black and performs in venues around Pittsburgh. In past years, the quartet has appeared on the radio through WQED-FM and The Saturday Light Brigade. The quartet also receives chamber music coachings with visiting quartets through the Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society. The quartet has performed in workshops with the Pacifica Quartet and the Biava String Quartet. The ensemble also performs at benefits and with outreach programs at venues like Oxford Center, Oakland's Carnegie Hall, Heinz Hall, and various schools and nursing homes throughout Pittsburgh.
