The Mongelli incest case was uncovered on March 27, 2009 by Italian police in the city of Turin when a 63-year-old man named Michele Mongelli, and his 41-year-old son, Giuseppe Mongelli were arrested and charged on suspicion of incest. According to the Turin police Michele began raping his now 34-year-old daughter at the age of 9, named "Laura" in press reports, also imprisoning her for 25 years in a darkened room with no electricity. There has been pointed out many similarities to the Austrian Fritzl case. Giuseppe was encouraged by Michele to imitate his father, and so Giuseppe sexually abused his own four children.
